Commercial Use for Drones

Commercial Use for Drones

Seven Commercial Use for Drones

In March a federal judge dismissed a fine imposed by the FAA on a drone user for commercial reasons. The agency still believes that drones require some type of regulation when it comes to sharing the airspace, but the ruling was interpreted by some as a precursor to the up-coming commercial use for drones.

Drones are officially known as unmanned air vehicles(UAV’s), they have captured the attention of many hobbyists  and industries, planning on using them to cut down on their costs and bring up their revenue. Drones evidently have endless commercial use, due to their flexibility. Not having an on-board pilot and the ability to do their designated job quickly is certainly one of their many great features businesses are looking at. But there is always a downside to a great innovation. Many citizens are concerned with the idea of anyone being able to own a UAV, since in the wrong hands it could potentially deprive people of their right of privacy.

Drones and Their Commercial Market

Drones Commercial Market

Drones Commercial Applications and it’s Market

The zenith of technological advancements in avionics can be particularly represented by Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). These UASs are the result of the development of highly sophisticated miniaturization, batteries, electronics, data-processing techniques, and optics. After a proven track record of usage in military and security operations, the pro UASs have now tailored the technology for a variety of commercial applications.

Unlike other western countries, commercial development of UAS in US has lagged behind because of bureaucratic delays in Federal Aviation Administration’s commercial approvals. Despite of the delays in commercial approvals, the forward-thinking firms are still very enthusiastic about this new technology.

Upgrading India’s Avionics System with Satellite Based Augmentation System

India Avionic System

Drone Satellite Navigation Technology

During an event of Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), a transportation officer highlighted the need in the enhancement of India’s avionics system. Considering the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system in the country, the plan would prove to be beneficial in all aspects.

According to India’s civil aviation secretary Ashok Lavasa, the project would save $10 million in fuel costs annually. The plan was to implement Gagan, a satellite based augmentation system (SBAS) that allows the aircrafts to be equipped with specialized SBAS receivers. This will help in flying non-precision approaches and en route navigation within Indian airspace with no vertical guidance at all.

Paketkopter Drone

Paketkopter Drone for Faster Delivery

On 9 Dec, microdrones – a German company, and DHL – an international shipping company, unanimously released the Paketkopter delivery unmanned aircraft system in an event in Bonn, Germany.

In order to avoid the jam-packed roads while crossing waterways, the UAS have been planned to deliver parcels. After being tested for a week, a microdrones aircraft carried 40 parcels to a pharmacy located across the Rhine River. The UAS picked the parcel from the DHL headquarters and covered a distance of 500 meters to deliver it.

Mapping with Drones

Mapping with Drones

Considering the safety issue in surveying an open pit-mine, some of the surveyors are not allowed to carry out land surveying on such sites. To counter this, companies have come up with a solution of conducting aerial surveys. The decision is quite constructive as it helps in getting all the vital information that was previously carried out during a land survey.

In addition to being one of the easy alternatives, Namibian Minim Survey Services (NMSS) has proved aerial surveying economical. Saving more than 95% of the mobilization cost in transporting the resources for land-based survey, the unmanned aerial system (UAS) stands out in all aspects.
